Google Announce new API! We give out free guides!

Google have just announced their new v2 robot API available for Java and Python! The new api brings exciting and highly requested features including the active API, proxying for and a redesigned event handling mechanism!

Here at wave.to we have been busy playing around with the new API since late last year and we’ve experienced many pleasures and difficulties in developing on the new platform. So to help all you developers out there we have put together a few short guides to get you started! These guides demonstrate performing simple actions with the new API and include everything from creating a simple robot that responds to a users events to proxying for non-wave participants! Best of all these guides are in Java and Python so no matter which flavour of the API you choose there is help there for you! Head over to the new Simple guides for the robot API v2 page to get started and happy developing!

Is there love for Wave? Yes!

The hype from the launch of Google Wave may be over and now comes the real test. Is it useful? Can Wave make my life easier? People are starting to use it daily and think so; Chris Brogan has written a short post about his experiences with Google Wave over the last few months and is beginning to find that after his initial impressions it is becoming a useful tool! Check out his post.

Rssybot 2 moves into testing

Happy new year to all! (Slightly belated as it may be). A completely new version of Rssybot has just moved into the first stages of testing. Rssybot 2 utilises the new yet to be released Robot API v.2 from google and is the first robot I have coded in python. Stay tuned for it’s initial roll out soon and a source code release!

Rssybot back online!… offline

Overloaded again! Updates to follow soon…

Rssybot back online!

After an almost complete re-write Rssybot is back online and functioning correctly. Rssybot is still in it’s infancy though so you may experience bugs and errors. If you do, please contact me so that I can repair the bug.

Rssybot gets rated number 9 in the top 11 Robots for Enterprise

Seek omega bas reviewed 66 robots and compiled a list of the top 11 for Enterprise. Rssybot made it in at number 9! Check it out here!

Rssybot press & overloading news

Rssybot has been rated number 9 in the top 11 robots for enterprise! Check out the press sectionfor more info! Unfortunately in just two days he become overloaded with users and stopped working. In order to fix this it is going to take a significant recode and rethinking so for the time being he will just download the new feed for you. He wont keep it updated. I have added a status section to the Rssybot page where you can find more information and I will of course post updates here when they become available.

Starify fixed & Wave Live Messenger update

There has been a problem with starify for a while meaning that you could not link to starred waves or delete them. This has been repaired. Wave Live Messenger still has issues; The password field only works in firefox. Google are aware of this problem. If you use firefox it signs you in but the ‘refresh’ button does not work. This appears to be a bug with Wave not returning all the child blips and just stopping the robot execution. A bug report has been made and I am hoping for some feedback on this soon.

Rssybot goes into the workshop to have arm replaced…

…comes out with new leg! A fair bit of work has gone on under the hood of Rssybot to fundamentally improve the way he works. This did unfortunately lead to about 16 hours of down time on friday and has also meant that you have probably lost any subscriptions that you have with him. Rssybot also feels very laggy at the moment and I am working towards a fix for this. But on the good side I am hoping that he will not lose your subscriptions again, (Fingers crossed on this!) and the changes under the hood should lead to improvements and pave the way for new features in the future!
